Basic Info
Without getting too technical. CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of over a hundred compounds found in the Cannabis/Hemp plant. Some of the other cannabinoids found in hemp are: CBG, CBC, CBN, and THC Delta-9 and Delta-8. Hemp is different from marijuana in chemistry. Industrial hemp is required by law to contain less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC.
All of these compounds are still being studied and the reality is we still don't fully understand the human body. We will likely be discovering new benefits to these compounds for years to come.
What we do know is that these cannabinoids interact with the bodies Endocannabinoid System (all animals have this system). Cannabinoids are found in more than just hemp, they are produced by our own bodies and by other plants as well. However, those other sources are just not enough to provide the body with enough cannabinoids to be therapeutic.
Isolate, Broad and Full Spectrum
There are several different terms you will come across with looking at CBD products. Isolate is exactly that, it is that compound isolated out of the rest of the plant. You might find CBD Isolate products, CBG isolate products, CBN and CBC isolate products as well. All of those will be in the upper 98% to 99% pure down to the molecule.
When you find Broad Spectrum CBD products that generally means more than one cannabinoids are present but has no THC down to usually 0.001% or below and is generally undetectable. The only tests I am aware of that would possibly detect any THC at that level is in specific military detailed panel drug tests. The average person should pass a drug test while taking broad spectrum CBD products.
Products labeled as Full Spectrum, indicate that there is up to 0.3% Delta-9 THC and would most likely show on a drug test. The term Full Spectrum should also indicate that more than just CBD and THC are in that product. Usually including: CBG, CBN, CBC and possibly also Delta-8 THC or other trace cannabinoids as it is usually formulated with a distillate. Distillates are the plant processed down to an amber color jell of sorts with much of the organic plant mater removed. Distillates are a tricky thing, they can often be a lower percent purity of cannabinoids. I have seen some that are well under 50% cannabinoids. I have also seen some Full Spectrum products labeled as THC Free. What that tells me is the makers of this product may not know what they are doing; also possibly don't really care about the end product or customer.
In Wavellite products our goal is always to have a high percentage total cannabinoids in the end product. Even if that means increasing the amount of distillate in the formulation or adding isolates to get better end results. When you buy Wavellite CBD products you will notice that each product has a batch # sticker. If you ever have a question about a product or feed back of any kind, I encourage you to reach out to us. At this time, we are making very small batches and so are not going to post all of those batch notes on line. However, if there are questions or concerns I would be completely willing to share that information with anyone!
